Holiday : Asia : Thailand : Hellfire Pass, Kanchanaburi. Each year
Hellfire Pass, Kanchanaburi. Each year Anzac Day services are held around the world, not just at Anzac Cove, Gallipoli. EASTLEISURE TRAVEL invites you to join us on an emotional journey; to remember the sacrifice of our Australian and New Zealand diggers during this fully guided ANZAC DAY remembrance tour. On tour, you and your companions, will experience the emotion of the dawn service at Hellfire Pass in Kanchanaburi on the Thai-Burmese boarder. The importance of this event was demonstrated by the attendance of the Australian Governor General in 2011. The dawn service is followed by a gunfire breakfast at the Hellfire Pass Museum (tea and coffee with a traditional shot of Bundy Rum), after which we return to Kanchanaburi Allied War Cemetery to attend the ANZAC DAY service and wreath laying ceremony. The cemetery is the final resting place for many of the 2710 Australian servicemen who perished on Death Railway. This eight day tour departs Sydney on Saturday the 21st April and returns on Sunday 29th April. Not only does this tour allow you to join in the ANZAC DAY events, but you will also spend a total of five nights in the excitement capital of Asia, Bangkok. Should you wish, you will have the opportunity to ride elephants and bamboo rafts. You will also take a ride along the infamous “Death Railway” and march” across the “Bridge on the River Kwai”.
